September 9, 2019 Title: The Dungeon Scripture: Isaiah 42:6-9-- "I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. Our life can look on the outside to others as perfect and even flawless, how we can hide ourselves, the pains of life that have left scars and imprints of past incidents that we try to cover over with our smiles and laughter, knowing all along that it is a smoke screen for the real truth that lies within us. God's plan for us isn't to shed light on our insecurities and the faults that we really can't hide for He knows everything about us but that in His plan He sent His son, Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world. In Him is revealed our salvation, His saving grace and mercies that not just a few but all can come closer to Him and except Him as their Lord and Savior. Ephesians 5:8-13---- For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the light consists in all goodness:, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. " In the dependant aspect of this message is a wholeness and reviving look of God's rescue through His Son of those He found in darkness, bruised by life and sitting in the dungeon of darkness without a ray of promise but because God loved us dearly He sent His only Son. This sheds light on all that He did for those sitting in darkness. 1 John 5: 12--He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. |
